• Introduction

산소는 생물학적으로 활성화된 물질의 합성에 매우 중요한 분자입니다. 산소 이용 능력은 생명체 진화에 중요한 역할을 하였습니다. 산소는 세포 내 다양한 효소를 활성화시키며, 활성산소종은 세포 기능 운영에 관여합니다. 그러나 세포 내 DNA나 단백질 같은 분자는 종종 Reactive Oxygen Species(ROS)에 의해 손상될 수 있습니다. Oxidative stress는 최근 이러한 방어 메커니즘과 산화적 손상과 질병 또는 노화 과정과의 관계를 이해하기 위해 많은 연구가 집중되고 있습니다. 이를 위해 superoxide anion, SOD, GSH, GR, GPX, DNA lesions, 8-oxo-Gua, 8-NG, 그리고 protein carbonyl과 같은 ROS와 관련된 물질 또는 ROS 유도체의 검출을 위한 많은 분석 방법이 개발되어 왔습니다.

• Nitric Oxides

Nitric Oxide (NO)은 endothelial-derived relaxation factor로서 혈관 내에서 혈관확장 및 항혈소판 작용을 하며, 호중구와 대식세포에서 유래하면 각각 신경전달 물질 및 세포독성 물질로 작용합니다. NO는 superoxide anion과 반응하여 매우 독성인 peroxynitrite를 생성하며, 이 반응은 SOD보다 세 배 빠릅니다. 또한 NO는 cyclooxygenase를 활성화할 수도 있습니다. NO는 guanylate cyclase를 활성화하여 중요한 역할을 수행하며, 그러나 라디칼성으로 인해 매우 반응성과 불안정성을 가지며 생물학적 환경에서 형태 변화를 겪을 수 있습니다. 이로 인해 NO와 관련된 대사 물질의 기능은 각각 개별적으로 조사되어야 합니다. 최근 NO 연구에서는 이러한 화학적 특성으로 인해 모순된 결과가 나타나고 있습니다.
